Individual and Group Chats (Rooms)
In Vistameet, conversations can be held with individuals as well as in groups.
Starting a Conversation
In the workspace, after entering Vistameet, you are offered three options as buttons to start a conversation or join one (room).
Designation | Options for Joining a Conversation |
---|---|
"Send Direct Message" | Opens the company's people search and starts an individual chat with a person after selection |
"Explore Public Rooms" | Opens the room search and shows existing public rooms |
"Create Group Room" | Opens the menu for creating a new room (private or public) |
Individual Chats
Send Direct Messages
Direct messages enable private communication between two people. These conversations are displayed in the "People" sub-area of the sidebar.
How to start a direct message:
- Click on "Send Direct Message"
- Search for the desired person
- Select the person from the search results
- Begin your conversation
Group Chats
Create Group Conversation (Group Room)
Group chats enable communication with multiple people simultaneously. These are displayed in the "Rooms" sub-area.
How to create a group room:
- Click on "Create Group Room"
- Enter a name for the room
- Choose visibility (private or public)
- Invite participants
- Configure additional settings as needed
Explore Public Rooms
Through the room search, you can find existing public rooms and join them.
How to explore public rooms:
- Click on "Explore Public Rooms"
- Browse available rooms
- Use the search function for specific topics
- Join interesting rooms
Room Types (Private | Public)
Private Rooms
- Accessible only by invitation
- Not visible in public room search
- Higher privacy and control
Public Rooms
- Visible and accessible to all users
- Appear in room search
- Promote open communication and collaboration
Invitations
Send Invitations to (Project) Rooms
You can invite other users to your rooms:
- Open the desired room
- Click on room options (three dots)
- Select "Invite People"
- Enter email addresses or usernames
- Send the invitations
Search Bar (Contacts | Rooms | Areas)
The search function allows you to quickly find contacts, rooms, or areas:
- Search contacts: Find people in your organization
- Search rooms: Discover public rooms or find your own
- Search areas: Navigate to different workspaces
Search functions:
- Full-text search in names and descriptions
- Filter by type (people, rooms, areas)
- Quick access via keyboard shortcuts

Poll (=Vote)
Create Poll
Create polls for decision-making in group chats:
- Click on the poll symbol in the function bar
- Enter your question
- Add answer options
- Choose the voting type
- Start the poll
Voting Types
- Single choice: One answer per person
- Multiple choice: Multiple answers possible
- Anonymous voting: Votes are not assigned by name
Share Attachment | Upload File
Share files and attachments in your conversations:
Supported file types:
- Documents (PDF, DOC, DOCX, TXT)
- Images (JPG, PNG, GIF)
- Presentations (PPT, PPTX)
- Spreadsheets (XLS, XLSX, CSV)
How to share files:
- Click on the attachment symbol
- Select the desired file
- Optionally add a description
- Send the file
Download Files
You can easily download received files:
- Click on the file in the conversation
- Select "Download"
- Save the file to the desired location

General Information
Each conversation displays important information:
- Number of participants
- Creation date
- Last activity
- Room type (private/public)
Member Information
Detailed information about participants:
- Online status
- Role in room (admin, moderator, member)
- Join date
- Last activity

Available Functions
Various actions are available for each message:
React
- Add emoji reactions to messages
- Show quick approval or emotions
Reply
- Reply directly to specific messages
- Maintain context in longer conversations
Reply in Thread
- Create discussion threads on specific topics
- Keep the main conversation clear
Edit
- Correct your own messages
- Edited messages are marked accordingly
Profile
- Display user profiles
- Start private conversations
Options
Additional actions for messages:
Quote
- Quote messages in new replies
- Maintain reference to previous statements
Forward
- Forward messages to other rooms
- Share important information efficiently
Share
- Share messages outside of Vistameet
- Export important content
Report
- Report inappropriate content
- Help with platform moderation
Remove
- Delete your own messages
- Administrators can remove all messages
Read Receipts for Messages
Vistameet shows who has read your messages:
- Green checkmarks show read messages
- Participant avatars show who has read
- Timestamp of read receipt
Read receipts can be disabled in settings if you want to keep your reading activity private.
Use threads for longer discussions on specific topics to keep the main conversation clear.
